Avian Department
Bird Handling & Presentation Internship
Under the supervision of
our internship coordinator, you will be given the
opportunity to learn about exotic bird and reptile husbandry
during our Bird Handling & Presentation Internship. You will
care for and handle our animals, learn applications of
operant conditioning and participate in public presentations
for our guests.
This department's small staff and its personal attention to
its animals is unique. Because of this interactive
environment, you will get to know each of our intelligent
birds personally. You will also be able to make a tangible
difference at our park.
During your stay with us here at Gulf World Marine Park, you
will plan, design and create a project. You will develop and
implement new enrichment processes, and you will assist in
training behaviors.
This is an unpaid internship program. We require a three
month, 40 hour per week commitment. Although housing is not
provided, we will do our best to assist you in finding
accommodations.
